base boards will cover the paneling stain. don't know about carpet. Put furniture over it?Helpful Reply -

Would you be open to painting the paneling? You could use a stain blocking primer. Or, If the stains are very low down the wall, the base boards are a great idea! Stream cleaning with a shampooer might help with the carpet, I would try that first. Maybe there is a heavy duty carpet cleaning solution that could clean up some of the staining.Helpful Reply -

Hate to give you the bad news, but the paneling should have been cut back to the dry line because mold can be growing behind it within 2 days. Likewise carpet should be removed and you can get it cleaned by a recovery service. Your homeowner's insurance or flood insurance should cover this expense.Helpful Reply -
