We just moved in to a fully renovated older home, we love everything but those ceiling tiles!!! Can't afford the ones on the market and would like ideas on how to improve the look on the existing ones myself, by painting? Stenciling? Etc?

check out DIY GirlCave by Holly Prim. She just replaced her entire basement ceiling tiles with a beautiful ceiling she did by herself. You will love it !!!!!!!!!!!

We removed them all in our house. Repainted the metal rails with a small roller and repainted the tiles with an airless sprayer. The whole room looks brand new now.

You can always beadboard them! I love that look!

I added beadboard and various 1x4 or 1x6's and trim to create a pseudo coffered ceiling look in my 1,000 sq ft basement. It was very difficult but is totally doable. I haven't blogged about it yet, but plan to do a full post and video very soon, I have one more ceiling to finish. If you visit my Hometalk profile, I used it as my background pic because I love it so much. good luck to you, keep us posted!!
