Is there anyway you can soften Spackle that is Hard as a rock?

Yes. 99% of these products are water based; just add water on top, let it sit a while (overnight is fine) and try stirring it in the morning. Depending on how much dry spackle you have, you may end up doing just a couple inches at a time. I've been doing this for years & have never it fail
You will probably have to pour off the un-absorbed water on top, and stir up what was underneath the standing water
The container was sealed tight, but still it got very hard! There is no moisture in the container. THANKS! I'll add some water and see what happens overnight!Kat
You can't. Spackle is supposed to get hard - that's its job. Bite the bullet, buy QUALITY spackle in smaller quantities.
