I have 2 large black plastic planter urns at tor bottor pf my drive. They have faded over time & I have considered black stain, krylon spray paint and recently read that just coating with vaseline will rejuvenate them. Please advise what success stories you all may have had! Thank you.

    Hi Leslie,

I've used Rustoleum spray paint to rejuvenate some of my planters. First scuff it up to make sure the shine is removed. I've used very fine sand paper or 0000 steel wool. Next clean it well. You want to be sure all of the dirt and sanding grit is completely gone. Then use a spray primer meant for plastic and finally 2-3 THIN coats of spray paint. There are paints now that have primer in them, but I've had more success with 2 separate products. Wishing you the best.

I have used RustOleum for plastic. Clean, scuff with fine steel wool, wipe with denatured alcohol, then spray paint.

Thanks for all of your help. I crushed all the grass clippings from the pots, lightly sanded, wiped with water, let dry.

(I had to fix one pot so I showed how I repaired it. Before & after pics.
