Jean Myles on Jul 18, 2016I would think that as long as there is enough room to keep the chairs on the rug when you back up the chairs it would be fine.Helpful Reply

Kathy Bettis Marez on Jul 19, 2016A rectangular table should be paired with a rug in the same shape, for the best results. An oval rug CAN work, but will need to be much larger so that all of the chairs can stay grounded. There's nothing worse than sitting down for a nice meal, and having your chair be off balance because one leg can't stay on the underlying rug. If you have the room and are intent on an oval rug, then go for it. But, I would opt for a slightly larger rectangular rug to pair with your table. The same is true of a round table...use a round rug underneath. The exception is this...an oval table can sit on top of either an oval or rectangular rug...both will work.Helpful Reply
