How about wine storage? Here's what one Hometalk member did: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/-4402820 You'll find a lot more inspiration, too, if you type in "wine crate" in the search box at the top of the page.

I took a wine crate and made a spice rack out of it. I love it cause it is different than what others have I put 3 shelves in it and bought these little jars at the dollar store

I like to use crates for foot stools. Make a wooden lid, cover and attach it and you can even put wheels on it. Then you have a rolling stool with storage.

Hi Mindy! We love any kind of wood crates at our house! The possibilities are endless when it comes to re-imaging them for another purpose. I do like the idea of creating a rolling stool. I recently created an end table by stacking & fastening the crates on top of one another on their sides, then adding an old pine cabinet door for the top.I stained the entire piece so it all matched, but you could certainly paint them as well. That ends up giving you 2 or 3 compartments (depending which way you stack them) to stash things like magazines and TV remotes. Or lots of toilet paper for the bathroom-lol! Also, crates flipped upside down make great, country-style, elevated pet food dish holders. Poly the entire piece (pets can be messy : ) Then flip them over, cut holes in the top, side by side to allow the base of the dishes to hang through. Have fun-and make sure you share an "after" pic!

I like the wine crates in the bathroom for additional storage of rolled towels.
