Not sure I want to paint it. I like the idea if keeping it original and I am learning more about restoring antiques...used it as a teen to hold tiny little things

Hi Janerose. I'm Cindy. That would make a very cool coffee table. Put a piece of glass on top and attach 4 legs. It could provide a lot of interest discussing all those tiny little things. Wishing you well. Good luck Janerose.

was just talking telling my carpenter husband about your idea...he loved it but he's right we have a lot of furniture...so I think I will take your great idea and make it into a tray...

Hello Janerose. If you are going to refinish it, paint or stain it, use a color that will match your bathroom or vanity/dressing area. You can use tiny cup hooks inside each tray and hang earrings and bracelets. Along the bottom, use the small cup hooks for necklaces, belts or even some often worn scarves. For decoration, it would be nice to find a metal or wood lentil for the top....or even just an antique drawer handle. Just one idea.

I love Cindy's table idea if it's big enough. This is also an interesting idea...
