Terri Turner on Sep 30, 2014Opps just realised it was brass. Ignore the comment I wrote above. Wax wouldn't work. I would use Brasso in a little unobvious spot and see how it looks. Otherwise clean with vinegar and leave as is. It's beautiful.Helpful Reply

Gwen on Sep 30, 2014I worked in a grocery store with an old register we used like this. It would not have those streaks that appear like cat spray running down its back. That would not happen. I would attempt to clean it.Helpful Reply

Jjarnett on Jun 24, 2016Hi I am your Antique Junkie. I Go online to HBAC GROUP. This company restores cash registers. Email info@hbacgroup.com Phone#16077923343 You can send photos and they may tell you more and also give you a quote to restore. Read in their website how they tear apart and restore inside out. Personally, I don't know if your CR is all brass. It may be wood or another type metal. Does it still work? Does drawer open etc? If so, GREAT. For you, Get a soft toothbrush and your vacuum sweeper out. Whatever you do don't scrub it in anyway. You have a Gem. It still has all the printing and numbers. It will have a serial number somewhere. Type in the SN MN and any numbers you find. You can put the NCR with SN and probably find tons of info for you wonderful find. National started Co in 1884 -today. Your's is around 1916. It is officially an antique. $$$$Helpful Reply
