What can be done with old silver pieces? Trays, tea set, cream and sugar bowls, just odd pieces.

Sell them on Ebay. That's what I do.
I like to organize things on my desk with old trays and vases.
Lex: if they are pure silver, you can take them to a pawn shop. Silverplate won't be accepted... so you may want to paint with chalk paint for unusual decor or vases!
