If you don't have a fabric store in your area that carries it, try this site. They usually have some great prices and in colors/fabrics/patterns local stores may not have. www.fabric.com

Kate try and visit Winders if there is one in your area or Jo-ann or Hancock Fabrics. Less expensive stores may have lower quality fabrics and less choice, especially if you're looking for something specific.

Believe it or not... Goodwill, Thrift stores, Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, ... depending on what you're need is. If you need yardage, you might look at JoAnnes, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. Otherwise, If you need smaller amounts, don't mind cutting to fit, & love good prices, you might find used prom dresses, wedding gowns, in BEAUTIFUL fabrics. Good Luck!

Hancock Fabric stores have super reduced apolstery and curtain fabric bolts. I got 4 yards of silk curtain fabric for $1 a yard and it is 60" wide.

Become a "preferred customer" at the fabric/craft stores in your area. They will send you coupons (both by snail- and e-mail) on a regular basis. Also wouldn't hurt to ask if they accept competitor's coupons (in my area, Michael's will accept JoAnn's coupons).

Joann.com has an app with weekly coupons- usually a 40-50% off one cut. So you can pretty much purchase any fabric 1/2 price. You can order online if there is not one near you. Hobby Lobby also has the same deals.

Sometimes just signing in to the store WiFi gets you a coupon. I've found this to be true at Michael's, JoAnn and othe shores like Kohls and Target. Just sharing a coupon tip!
