    Do you know what the material this new little friend is made of?
    • Mel Mel on Oct 16, 2015
      @Janet Pizaro Hey Janet! He is a hefty little guy made completely of concrete!!

    Hes so adorable. So it will depend on where you are going to use him for your deciding color. Did you give him a name. Anyway just make sure you use an outdoor cement paint.

      @Janet Pizaro Outdoor cement paint? Can I get that at Home Depot? Thanks for your help Janet! A name will probably come as I am working on him.......right now I'm calling him Fatboy. Lol

    Yes Home Depot should carry the paint. Just do me a favor and make sure the paint says outdoor use, otherwise it will peel off.

      @Janet Pizaro Thanks! Any ideas on how to 'clean' him up a bit? Wire brush, maybe?
  • Pgl Pgl on Oct 18, 2015
    No wire brush!!!! Spray him down with bleach and water let it sit. Then use an old tooth brush some soapy water to clean. Next rinse well you can use cement stain or a rust proof paint. He looks like a character from a 1990 cartoon script.

    He looks like a smiling Japanese Buddha. Once he is cleaned up he won't look so evil looking, LOL! It looks like he is covered in lichen and fungus. Try cleaning with a mixture of vinegar and water (50/50) and a SOFT brush. If that doesn't work add in a T. of baking soda - it will rise and bubble up when mixed together so allow room in the bowl for this, pour on a small section of the statue, let sit for about 5-10 min and lightly brush and see if it does the trick. If it works then tackle the rest of him and rinse well with water. I have seen these statues before and they are really quite charming! They are not meant to be painted and once you get him cleaned up you probably won't need to.

    Yep, Billikens! I wouldn't paint him. He probably has some value without painting him.

      @Susan S I'm going to try cleaning him a bit......probably won't paint him.
