Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Jan 17, 2012The pro is that it can be a great and wonderful career. The major con is that it is mostly dominated by males and you will most likely run into some "good ol' boy" sexist type situations.Helpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Jan 21, 2012Adina, There are pros and cons in every profession , but in architecture the only con would be that it is a male dominated society and they feel that women know jack about a load bearing wall or how to build a house. on the other hand Interior design being a woman dominated profession doesn't make it easier for us, the competition is fierce. Join the ARE forum - http://www.areforum.org/forums/index.php to get this answer from thousands of successful women architects who feel they'v hit the glass ceiling. When I wore my hard hat and went on site observation visits, I was advised to stay on the ground during the roof punch list, but I did't listen I wasn't afraid of heights and I wanted to learn. I did climb a roof when i was 5 months pregnant. My advise to you, learn and be perfect and make sure your presence is felt on the site and around the office!!Helpful Reply
