PAINTED A YUCKY BROWN CARD TABLE TO USE FOR BUNKO, SCRAPBOOKING, ETC...
*Options I considered for this project:
LOOKING FOR A CHEAP ONE ON CRAIG'S LIST
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
NONE
* Cost Comments:
THE TABLE WAS FREE SO THE ONLY ITEMS PURCHASED WERE THE RUB ON DECALS AND THE SPRAY PAINT SINCE I ALREADYHAD THE OTHER ITEMS.
*My motivation to do this project:
I OFTEN NEEDED ANOTHER TABLE FOR CRAFTS OR OTHER ACTIVITIES BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO BUY A NEW TABLE. THIS ONE WAS FREE ON FREECYCLE.ORG
*Project Steps:
1. CLEAN TABLE
2. SPRAY PAINT IN DESIRED COLOR
3. APPLY RUB ON's
4. APPLY 4 COATS OF POLY
Advice:
DO: APPLY SEVERAL COATS OF POLY TO INSURE DURABILITY
Materials:
CARD TABLE - $0.00
RUB ON DECALS @ $3.50 (on clearance) - $6.00
2 X BLACK SPRAY PAINT @ 99c - $0.99
POLY/FOAM PAINT BRUSH - $0.00
The poly I used to seal and protect the finish.

  • Amazing, I love the ornate motif you applied to the table. I am looking for an old dresser to convert to a vanity. The stain you used for your project seems like something I can use too.

Nice work. I refinished a Freecycle bookcase and was really happy with the results. Older furniture is often more solid and durable. It just needs a little TLC. It's great to avoid using new raw materials and to reuse someone else's discards before they go to the landfill.
