Wendy Lamkin Dutsky on Dec 27, 2015I've always wanted to insert a slab of marble within my kitchen countertops. The cold stone is perfect for rolling out pie crust and when making fudge, the pros pour the hot mixture out on a slab of marble and scrape it around until it cools/sets.Helpful Reply

Lisa Pagano on Dec 27, 2015If you don't find a use for it at your home, donate it to ReStore for Habitat for Humanity. They sell used home construction items and the money goes to fund the building of houses. They take cabinetry, flooring, lighting, plumbing, doors, windows, etc.Helpful Reply

Donna Oliphint on Dec 27, 2015Use the large piece for the top of a coffee table. Build a sturdy wooden cube for the base or find a cement garden piece(s) that will hold it.Helpful Reply

Dottie Weirich on Dec 27, 2015Janet, You didn't say what color or type of Marble you have. Some types of Marble stain with drinks & foods extremely easily, such as Carrera Marble and the stains are not coming out. Even though Carrera is on the lower price range it can have a wonderful look and it is most candy & baker's first choice. PLEASE have it cut and SEALED by a certified professional before placing any thing on it! It does scratch and spices will stain the color even with seal, rust can transfer from pans That piece you have, maybe traded for a quarts or man made stone counter top. Call a couple long time pros to look at and advice for it's use & worth before you act. I was a 25 year professional bake / pastry chef at a 5 star hotel in N.Y.City. Your cost is only time, but the reward can be very high !Helpful Reply

Christina Polychronis on Dec 28, 2015My dad many years ago bought two pieces of marble which became two tables in our living room. When I moved of course I kept the marble and now it is on top of a table with the TV on top of it. It's a memory of my dad as well as his skill in making the base for the previous tables in my previous home. Definitely heavy too!Helpful Reply

Sandy on Dec 28, 2015It is according to the size, but you could always make a kitchen island out of the larger piece and trays out of the smaller pieces. You also could donate to Habitat for Humanities.Helpful Reply

Dottie Weirich on Dec 28, 2015Janet, call a couple pros that specialize in marble and natural stone - ask if they can give you a free cost estimate for making it into a counter top. Cutting is not cheap and if not done correctly, one slip or slice - disaster can be the result. (Now don't tell them you don't necessarily want it as that), as some charge an arm for the estimate if it's not a "possible" job. This way you'll find out what type, and best uses for it and if it's even salable. Maybe they might be interested look online for local natural stone countertops that been in business a while with references.Helpful Reply
