Douglas Hunt on Apr 08, 2013Phil, most home quality pH meters are unreliable. Tests done though a state extension service use far more sophisticated equipment and are generally inexpensive. In fact, in your case, I think a basic soil test may be free.Helpful Reply

Anna on Apr 08, 2013I think they may sell the kits at some stores. I remember picking some up at the Home Depot, but I never used it. Maybe try to buy some litmus paper online, or get some phenolphthalein or red cabbage juice to use as an indicator.Helpful Reply
