HOW to get LOTS of Flowers to grow on plants
-
360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Apr 28, 2013slow down on the nitrogen (first number in fertilizer) and increase the phosphorus (second number). Nitrogen is great for getting green grass, but not so much for blooms. If you feed a plant a lot of nitrogen it throws all the energy into leaves, and takes energy away from the blooms. Many of the 'flowers' you see at the Lowes and other stores are 'forced' by the growers by manipulating several factors including growth regulators, light regulation and chemical fertilizers. Sometimes it makes for a weak plant, sometimes it does not affect the outcome.Helpful Reply
