Why are my zinnia plants growing such small flowers?

I bought a really large bag of zinnias from amazon ,I don't know the brand name. I thought they were med / large in size. Since I had so many I planted too many and they are super crowded, so I have been thinning them out. I was just wondering why they are growing so tiny with tiny flowers. Are they growing tiny because they are over crowded or because the seeds are just a small variety. Can they be stunted that much from overcrowding. Signed the learning gardener.

Carol....I think they must just be a tiny variety.
Hi Carol,
Look at the ones on the outside of the patch, are they tiny as well? If so, it is the variety you received and planted. You might take this up with the supplier.
Hi Carol! If you go back to your order page on Amazon, you can find the original posting of what you purchased. It may have details about the size of the flowers or there may be information in the comments about them. That said, we plant tons of zinnia seeds of all sizes together in a tight clump every year and they grow very well...big and small flowers alike, so it's probably your variety, then again, I'm a learning gardener, too, so I could be wrong! Here's our zinnias if you want to peek. https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2014/08/decorating-cheats-zinnia-bush-from-seeds.html
Carol, from what you are describing to us, they must be the smaller flowers. You can see your plants on Amazon that you ordered just as Kim has mentioned above. Good luck to you.
Thank You so much for your replies.
