KatAych on Mar 16, 2016Is there a school nearby that has a design degree program? Maybe you could work something out with the teacher - a few select students could apply their learnings as sort of an "internship" to practice their developing skills?Helpful Reply

Johnchip on Mar 16, 2016Seems ideal for a trendy "STEAM PUNK" look decor. Check out online the look 'steampunk decor' lots of images and ideas. Would fit nice with your location, age group and budget and use what is on hand or can be industrial salvaged, wood and some hammers and nails. Could even have keg party building art sculpture events.Helpful Reply

Kathy Bitzan on Mar 16, 2016I know this may not help as far as design, but I know around my area we really need a nice place to meet for a date with some decent acoustics and warmth. Unless you are targeting a certain age group .Helpful Reply

Wynand Steyn on Mar 16, 2016Evening, Truthfully we have no idea yet as it happened very suddenly and came as a big, yet pleasant surprise! I have an idea in my head, but struggling to to express it... I want a quite warm place to sit and lounge, yet an electric vibe on the dance floor?!Helpful Reply

Moxie on Mar 17, 2016I believe you came to the right place! Please post some pics. ...maybe a few different posts to focus on areas like the bar, restrooms, dance floor, seating and im sure ideas will start flowing your way...im intrigued! To get started i would suggest a few things. One go to your local permit department and find out what codes they require compliance with and what the local licencing requirements are. My guess is electrical and plumbing eill require licenced contractors to do the work. Then contact a few for and ask for a quote to vet the place up to code. This will tell you what you would really be getting into budget wise. The place will have to be up to code to open. The rest (assuming structually sound building) will be basically asthetic. Oh and call a good roofer to to inspect/quote any needed repairs. The industrial decore is a great choice as it gives you the free option to recycle for tgst steam punk look with metal, objects, exposed brick etc and upcyle which means cheap if you have time tools and a little skill!Helpful Reply

Wynand Steyn on Mar 21, 2016Please give me your email and I will forward some pics as well as layout ideas... current it is basically a 500m2 barn with 3 "offices", 2 separate mens and lady's bathrooms and a bar counter. Very open and very barren, would like to take away some of the space, as utilising it would be to costly! We really have a lot to play with...Helpful Reply

Wynand Steyn on Mar 21, 2016Moxie, Steampunk is exactly the idea I was going with, adding a little electric feeling?! As for licenses and all that... I live in Africa, very few restrictions on what we need, no contractors... I have all the skills to do the work myself, and I have a few friends that can sign it off afterwards.... huge cost saving on that one!! The building itself is quite new, so no inspections needed. Just interior and layout...Helpful Reply
