How do I get trees out of my ground cover?
I have a good sized bed of myrtle ground cover and there are oak and maple saplings growing in it. How do I get rid of them without digging up the whole bed? Is there any way to keep them from starting there in the first place? Help!!!

As far as I know, Dotty, the only good strategy is to get them while they're young. Because these little sprouts can have pretty tenacious roots, I've found the best approach is to go around with a pair of pliers, grab them near the ground and pull. You'd be surprised at how many you can get rid of in short order.

Thanks, I will try this. I pulled some tonight and they came out, acorn and all. Like you said, they were just small ones.
