What to plant in shade and something the deer won't eat

Douglas Hunt on May 21, 2013In my experience there is only one sure-fire deer-proof shrub for shade, and that is andromeda (Pieris spp.). They bloom in early spring with lovely lily-of-the-valley type flowers. As long as you don't have investigative children around, interplant them with perennials like foxglove and monkshood, which are poisonous to deer (and others that eat them).Helpful Reply
