Glow in the dark flower pots
-
KMS Woodworks on May 31, 2013We have done a few project with GID (glow in dark) paints. We have used base powders mixed with various paints / glues. The daylight color will vary based on the GID mix used and the base color of the item. check out this blog post from my sweetie http://torisaur.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.htmlHelpful Reply

Debby on Jun 01, 2013I used GID paint in my kids' bedroom and made stars. The paint was used on white door frames and worked perfectly for years until we painted over them. I would think the pots would be the same as the door frames. It might depend on what brand you buy.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jun 02, 2013As with most GID stuff the "glow" factor has to due with energy shifts in the material electron "shell". For these to work they need to be "charged" by an energy source. The sun provides this source the best, but the "decay" of the glow is time sensitive. When we do our night time photography of our GID project we need to use artificial light to charge them. It works but does give the longer glow period that the sun does.Helpful Reply

Nana J. on Jun 23, 2013I'm trying it for the first time. I've used almost a whole can, not sure of the size, on two hanging baskets. They kind of glow at dusk, but not like I expected. I'm going to try Rust-Oleum, used Krylon. I didn't put a base coat on, they were white to begin with. Kinda fun trying it.Helpful Reply

Carly Swirtz on Jun 29, 2013You need to paint a base coat of white paint first to get the best results. Another fun garden thing is the use of solar rope lights.I buy hanging glass lanterns and out the rope lights in them. I also put them in semi clear mirror balls. I have 170 various types of solar lights and glue mirror pieces on the trees around the garden to reflect the lights.Helpful Reply
