How to stop trees from suckering?

Kimberly Barney on Jun 24, 2013The stump of the tree is not dead. There are products that will actually kill the stump or you can also drive a cheap screwdriver into the center of the stump to kill it. The screwdriver takes several years to kill the stump where the chemicals are quicker.Helpful Reply

TJ on Jun 24, 2013we asked this question to several sources. The first thing to try is to soak the stump with something like Roundup for trees and brush. Another source said drilling a deep hole in the stump and filling it with Roundup as well as saturating the whole stump would help speed up the process. Try calling your state agriculture or natural resources department. They also have some good online information. good luck.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Jun 25, 2013Try to recut the stump and then paint it with a full-strength application of a brush killer herbicide. You may have to repeat this a few times, but eventually you'll be rid of your Bradford pear.Helpful Reply

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Jun 25, 2013You have to be more tenacious than the Bradford Pear that thinks it is still alive. It may take several applications as @Douglas Hunt said.Helpful Reply
