What should I ask for this dresser?
Thanks for any feedback :)

Therese C on Jul 16, 2013Try posting it on Craigslist..post higher than what you would settle for. First though, I would researcha bit on what they are going for on e-bay and antique sites to get an idea. Remember, you can always negotiate down, but you cannot come up on the price once posted...hence the reason for researching first.Helpful Reply

Anna Marie A on Jul 16, 2013Seriously Cathy....You need to do the research. I just purchased two Empire peaces from an Antique dealer. I paid $595.00 for a piece similar to this one. The second piece, which matched, i paid $250.00 for. However, that piece needed some loving to bring it up to its original state. Both pieces were from the 1920 revival era and are in great condition like yours. I wish you luck and success in selling this very lovely dresser. Anna MarieHelpful Reply

Stacie on Jul 18, 2013Call an antique dealer and ask for an appraisal...then go from there. If it's antique it may cost more and they may buy it.Helpful Reply

Cynthia on Jul 18, 2013$650 if in good shape. No surface issues. Best to always check with antique dealer, but keep in mind the price they quote may be much less as they hope to purchase the item at a lower price. Most sell for $650 and up.Helpful Reply

Emma Santoro-Adkison on Mar 08, 2014Cathy, I Certainly would not let it go for less than $500.00. If I had the money, I'd buy it in a heart beat. Please check on line a bit. You just may have something you really do not want to sell. Good Luck. MHelpful Reply

Dolly on Jan 19, 2015Tiger Oak is coveted for its look and longevity and the rarity of it now. This was not mass produced by the looks of those hand cut dove tails. Someone put their heart and soul into it. Perhaps as a wedding gift for his bride or a house warming gift for a daughter. Thank God you didn't paint over the beautiful patina and the warmth that comes from age. Sooo many people paint over furniture that is worth more if in good shape and in original condition. Or they strip off the patina that only comes with time.Always read up on the subject be it furniture, china, or what ever your heart pulls you to if your going to become a collector.Hell, I'd buy it from you if we lived closer,LOL!Helpful Reply
