Janet Pizaro on Aug 29, 2016Possibly a clog in the pipes. In the mean time pour hot water and white vinegar down the drain ,follow with baking soda and hot water. If the odor is still there then most likely there is food particles somewhere in the pipes.Helpful Reply

William on Aug 30, 2016If it's sewer smell, how long has this been a problem?! Are other sink/sinks, toilet, tub draining good?! Sounds like the P Trap under the sink is losing water or the water in it is being sucked out. I'm not talking about a leak. Pour about a cup of water down the drain to fill the P Trap. Does the smell go away?! Then one at a time, flush toilets, drain other sinks, tub. Does the smell come back with any being drained?! If not then the vent pipe for the kitchen sink is probably clogged. The P trap holds water to prevent sewer gases from entering the home. The vent pipe is in the wall behind the sink, goes up through the roof to vent the gases into the outside. If it is clogged, when the sink drains it creates a vacuum and water is sucked out of the P trap. You will need to have someone go on the roof and use a drain snake or garden hose to unclog the vent pipe. Sometimes birds, or bird nesting material can fall in the vent pipe and clog it. Water pressure from a garden hose can sometimes clear the clog.Helpful Reply

Mctoth on Aug 30, 2016If you have a garbage disposal, be sure you run it for a while after you think it has ground up the food. If you stop right after the food goes out, the food is sitting near where it was pushed and that can stink. The disposal and running water will help propel the food further into the waste pipes and out of the house. I also would use the vinegar and baking soda every week just to keep everything fresh.Helpful Reply

MTzilla on Aug 30, 2016Fill your sink basin 3/4 full and pour 3/4 cup of bleach in it. Add any sponges, scratchers, scrapers to the water and let it all sit for half hour or so. Then pull the drain. The bleach water will disinfect and remove stains in your sink, disinfect your accessories and cleanse your drain of odors. This works great for the side the disposal is in also. Just run the disposal while the bleach water is draining. Repeat as needed or at least every 3 months. Works for porcelain sinks, stainless sinks and composite sinks without harming them.Helpful Reply
