Roof leak

How can I patch or securely cover an area of my peaked, mobile home roof ? I have a couple of damaged spots in one area around bathroom ceiling vent pipe. Some of the shingles on my roof, as a whole, are missing also. My young adult son ,who's inexperienced at this stuff, will probably do one of your suggestions for me. I'm On a fixed income so I can't replace shingles/roof right now. I need the repair/cover to last thru the winter. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have used a product called "through the roof" for some of these "bandaid" type repairs. It is a clear rubber like compound. http://www.amazon.com/Sashco-Through-Caulking-Sealant-Clear/dp/B00110A8D2/ref=sr_1_1/180-0026213-2303023?ie=UTF8&qid=1379687320&sr=8-1&keywords=through+the+roof+sealant Your will want to pick up a couple of small disposable "hair" paint brushes. I like to do two thin coats with a few days dry time in between. This stuff is pretty "sticky" hench the disposable paint brushes...I'll take a small plastic bag with me up on the roof. Once I'm done I just toss the brush in there and throw out the bag...it not worth the effort to reuse the brush.

Quick fix to get you through the winter. Replace the rubber gasket on the roof pipe.( $3.50 each) Buy some GEOCEL clear GUTTER sealent, ($6.00 a tube). This is not silicone, it is a self leveler goo),and apply it to the exposed nails where the shingle blew off. Next, Plan on a new roof come spring.

Thanks for any input. I don't see that I'll have money for big repairs or a new roof as I live on disability SS. I will see if I can get someone to do one of these ideas. thanks:)

I also had the same issue last year, and I used Butyl MS Caulk to patch the hole. It is an ideal caulking agent in my experience. I also highly recommend it to you. It has high adhesive features and works very effectively on all kinds of roofing materials including metal and wood. It can be applied at low temperatures, has quicker dry time and a state-of-the-art hybrid polymer chemistry designed to withstand severe climate, weathering, and environmental conditions.

    Try using Roofix spreadable sealant.
