KMS Woodworks on Oct 20, 2013It this PVC (white plastic) ABS (Black Plastic) or iron ? If it is plastic pipe the best would be to cut out the hole and splice in a repair section. If the pipe is cast iron this becomes a lot harderHelpful Reply

Knute Schneider on Oct 20, 2013First, check with a local plumbing supply house and see what the have that will work. For plastic, cut out the bad pipe and splice in the good section. For metal, see if the supply house has a sleeve to make the repair.Helpful Reply

Rodney May on Oct 21, 2013they make expansion plugs for cars - basically a bolt through 2 washers with a rubber plug in the middle - you put the plug in the hole and tighten the bolt - it expands the rubber to seal the hole.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Oct 21, 2013Why a hole? If it is an old pipe, you may need a repair job rather than a patch!Helpful Reply

PR Plumbing on Oct 22, 2013Is the hole on the bottom or top of the pipe? If bottom, cut the pipe out and replace using boots on both ends. If top. cut out and replace. It will never be right if you don't replace.Helpful Reply

Pam Donahue on Nov 24, 2013Hun, if you don't have any plumber friends, call or go to Home Depot or Lowe's and ask someone in plumbing. They'll be able to tell you what you need to know. And I'd invest in a few DIY books too.Helpful Reply
