Try putting dawn dish washing soap on the spots allowing to sit long enough to remove the sap.
Grease cutting dish detergent like Dawn. Dab a drop on, full strength, then dab off with a paper towel. Gojo or a similar mechanic's hand cleaner. These products use lanolin, orange oil, and mild degreasers, which should break down the sap. Denatured alcohol. This will break down the sap, but you will have to allow it to soak, keeping just the area that is affected damp, but not wet. WD40. Use the above products to loosen and dissolve the sap, then blot the residue out with a damp towel. Change the towel after it has absorbed the sap and solvent, to keep from returning it to the fabric.

Try WD40, works for alot of sticky stuff.
WD40, Goo Gone or try fingernail polish remover in an inconspicuous spot. (I use nail polish remover to remove pine sap from jeans and jackets without damage). You may need to repeat these treatments, depending how thick the sap is.
As Johnchip suggested, you may want to check with North Face first so as not to negate their warranty.
Acetone or nail polish remover worked best for me- I had to remove it from my dog's back. Haha.
