Basement Bar Overhaul

Susan Priestly on Dec 18, 2013I've seen walls done with those shim bundles that you get at Lumber Stores, I don't like the idea of using pallets in the house....where've they been? Lead, worms, bugs, anything can be in them. Beadboard has been used by a neighbour and it looks lovely. Another used self sticking tiles for backsplash. Why not a small fridge in the space, hold everything you need including the cheese! LOL Good LuckHelpful Reply

Chinoski Building Group on Dec 19, 2013pallets are made out of stick oak or other material. We tried to use some for a customer and it was more trouble than going out and getting some barn woodHelpful Reply

Cynthia Freeney on Dec 19, 2013I've seem some charming accent walls, back splashes and even flooring built using reclaimed wine barrel wood. Probably a bit pricey, but I just love the look. http://www.houzz.com/photos/1696256/Cooperage---Reclaimed-Wine-Barrel-Flooring-eclectic-wood-flooring-austinHelpful Reply

Neocrowe on Dec 19, 2013You might want to check with the Granite places in your area, you can get a remnant or "blem" or a returned order that might fit across entire bar area you can still put your wine rack or better yet a wine fridge under that too. I also found some pre fab counter tops for very inexpensive prices at your local big box store, that little area shouldn't cost much at all. We have salvage places here, that benefit charities where contractors can donate building supplies, you could check them out for back splash materials too!Helpful Reply
