Heavy duty fishing line works well. Make sure you knot it a few times really tight.
Yes it will...every 2-3 years I restring them with fishing line and they are out year round...blizzard conditions and blistering heat!,
I also use fishing line on all my wind chimes, I use the strongest kind I can buy (for 100+ pound fish), it's called steel line but it is not metal . It lasts 5 yrs. & up for me in -20* to 108+*, 30 mph winds, rain, hail, snow, etc.
Thanks y'all!
I've used fishing line in ALL my chimes. Triple knot the ends. Then cut it back to about an inch. Using tweezers or pliers, hold the 2 ends together, & carefully burn the ends together. Don't let the knot burn! This will prevent the line from opening.
I use nylon thread, and this can't be worn out. Just measure each chime to a diff. length, and this will be fine. Best wishes.
Use super glue on the knot on fishing line .
