Congrats on your space! Are you leaving the walls as is? Meaning no sheetrock? Since you love the coast, use that as an inspiration. Why not have posters of the ocean or fabrics with sea shore themes on the walls. There is so much you can do! Look at Pinterest, or here on Home Talk. I am sure you will find lots of inspirations!
If you put in a kiln make sure you really fireproof it and set up the electricity to be super grounded- def do not want a fire from a storm or possible accident- or stray animal getting in. A small metal desk would be super safe and fireproof too- maybe an old kids school desk or office desk. Check local small sales( garage, etc) or Salvation Army outlets(they can have some great deals). Maybe a few smaller sized old office file drawers too- wouldn't try the plastic ones tho cause of critters or bugs.... and heat could melt them if outside too late in the afternoons. Best of luck and as far as decorating- coast posters at Hobby Lobby stores or Michaels. A really awesome DIY chandelier could be easy to make from an old ceiling fan/ look on Hometalk cause there r tons of them from everything from canning jars to old wire jars. Color could be any spray can you like- esp coastal colors.
Hi! it kind of depends on how you are going to use it. If it's primarily a work place would suggest at least one wall in pegboard where you can put hooks etc for your hobby needs. Then lot's of shelves. For mine I used several mismatched thrift store and garage sale finds and just placed them where they looked good and used baskets for storage. Thrift store vintage prints for art. On the practical side I would suggest insulating it and have a dedicated spot for a heater - two things wish i had done. Also another window or a skylight for more natural light, which i wish I could have done - may add the skylight someday. I hope you have fun in your new space... best investment I've made in years!
You'll need to put an air conditioner in your wall near the East side of your wall, if you work in the mornings. If you work in the evenings, the A/C should go in the West. I would lay some linoleum on your floor next. Then your insulation. Maybe, build a halfway loft across to get storage over window! After those items are placed, you could put your kiln away from your A/C area. Hope I've helped you in a useful way! I sure would love to see it when you've finished!!
Heat and bugs mean you may want to consider sliding skreen across door opening. As this is a wooden building if the kiln is of any size consider a outdoor position housed in a light hinged like a camp stove covering. If small consider building a cinder block base to hight for easy use, get an old metal counter/ table top from resterant kitchen or factory work bench. Consider if doing jewlry peg bourd on hinge so clean behind /spider-bugs. You didnt say what your art so include what inspires you and pictures of your art/craft. Include an outside work area and plug for great days.
Shop at the thrift stores for little things to hang around the walls, to group with bigger things, etc. My shed has metal watering cans, wood flowers, ducks, signs and lots of other things that were just cute! Especially in the rafters :)
I love your roof! and i second the idea of putting in bug screens....
