You can purchase some cheap coffee from your local grocery store and leave some in a open container/dish and the coffee grounds will help absorb the odor and moisture. Hope this helps! You can even use it in your refrigerator instead of baking soda.

The moldy smell is a sign of stagnant water sitting in the pipes unless you have a well or community water. You could install a carbon based water filter. Also all the pipes and water heater need to be drained when you close the summer home.

Place some Bi Carb of Soda in a plastic container, useing a nail and @ hamer, make holes in the top of the lid. Leave this in the room and the soda will absorb the smell.
