I love light colors because it gives the appearance of it being bigger & more open area
I have nickel in the kitchen and oil rubbed bronze in the bathrooms . I don't think that the entire house has to match .
Thanks, CD. I was kind of on that path - brushed nickel in the kitchen/dining/living room area (all open) because door hardware is easily found in nickel. Of course, kitchen faucet is easy to find in nickel and I am sure I can match up the 3 pendant lights that will go over the bar. I am leaning toward bronze in the bath but still open and so I asked. Thank you for your input.
Mine don't match either as others have said. Boy, gold is really in now and I'm tempted to redo all my hardware in my white kitchen! I love the look.
I love the bronzed look. Classic. And I do like things to match through out the house - that helps on re-sale, too.
Whatever you want them to be, it is your house and whatever makes you happy regardless of style or trend, go for it!
Now my only suggestion would be that the finishes match in the room. In other words pick one type of finish for the bathroom, all chrome, all gold, whatever. Mixing metals in the same room looks hodge podge to me anyway. Did I explain that well enough?
Oh, Naomie, you're right, I'd never mix metals in the same room or even the kitchen/dining/living room area, but I could do one type in those rooms and another in the baths. Again, not sure and as Marcie said perhaps it would be good for resale if all things matched in the entire house. This house is mine but my father was living there until he passed away in January. 4 days after the funeral, it caught fire. It did not burn down, only burned one corner of the living room, but the smoke damage was intense and it is in the process of being gutted down to the studs and redone. It will then be for sale since I have my own house too.
I am looking for what seems to appeal to most people since I will soon be picking this stuff out for the contractor. Gold may be coming in style but I don't think I will go there. It could be a bit much for some and others may equate it to brass that is so 70's. I think if I stay with brushed nickel or bronze it would appeal to the majority of prospective buyers - just need to decide which.....
