There is no quick way! It's usually a two to three day project. With application, drying time, sanding, several coats.
Take your time as this step is crucial to a flawless finish. Listen to William! ☺
The only thing that could be quick about this question is to change your expectations! Taping and mudding is not a quick thing. To do it right, mud should have a day to dry inbetween work. And sanding! Whoa!
I say hire a pro, but you could put one by strips on the seam and then paint...it's not an easy or quick job....I think you would have to put the one bys all the way across the wall, like every 2 foot or so. battin-board.
