You could use spray paint! Simple and easy. Plus you can achieve an even coat with no brush marks! Just prep the surface before hand! Clean it with rubbing alcohol and get a paint & primer spray paint. Use a top coat to insure durability.
Sherwin Williams carries a new product called Snap Dry. Dries in an hour and prevents blocking / sticking. Also, I'm a huge fan of taking them down and spraying with Krylon, for a professional sprayed look.
Rustoleum is great for metal and will help prevent rust. Spray in short bursts to help prevent runs and provide an even coat.
