I have a wheelchair ramp going to my door. What can I do now, I can't
It's wood. Very sturdy and straight. Help!!! I love my yard, and need ideas. Taking it down is not an option.
A little green palm tree in a pot by the front door would be perfect, or some other green bush that you fancy..
Paint your concrete steps and porch like a fine decorator rug (use a good, slip resistant paint and you will enjoy this pop of color for years). Add some hanging plants on both sides of the steps. I would remove the large bush and plant an evergreen short hedge on both sides of the steps to give the front of the house a balanced and elegant look.
Put a color mat and make a container planting
take out the shrubs and plant new more appealing ones
From a landscaping point of view, the tree in front is getting a bit tall. I would take it out, and put in some hydrangea (3 on each side) . The hydrangea will add a quaintness
that fits the era of the home (good bones in the home, by the way). Add some trailing plants in the pots at the front of the 1/2 wall (creeping jenny, wave petunia, etc).
Then to work on some "décor" items would be the icing on the cake! You could lighten the front door, to bring it out more. The darkness of the door gets a bit lost.
Have fun! Post pictures of what you do!
I would hang a red geranium on each side of the entrance. This will prevent bugs, and be colorful at the same time. I think this looks lovely, and do enjoy your porch, folks today, just do not have this lovely porch!!! J.
I didn't see the flower bed, so I can't suggest ideas in that area. What color is the steps? You may want to put the planters at the base of the steps - for them to show up more. J.
Brighten up the front door with paint - the color that I have been seeing a lot on brick homes is this teal/light blue color that makes it pop! Get a matching door mat and add more color with flowers.
