Grays are very popular now .
Sherwin Williams Accesible Beige. We are building a new house and painting the entire interior with this color. It isn't too light or too dark and coordinates beautifully with a cool or warm palette.

I've always had luck picking warm beige colours & but if you prefer cool colours, grey's are always nice. You're best to get a sample can to test first as Grey's can have undertone colours that might not be noticeable till you've painted a larger area. I've always used Benjamin Moore paints as they are excellent although pricey. Good luck!

Grey works well with almost any colour scheme and is my goto neutral. Off white also works as does a soft taupe.
delicate lemon looks ligt n airy
Light gray is nice and light taupe is very neutral for decorating ease.
Greige is a great color because it combines grey and beige...Not too cool, not too warm. It matches lots of other colors for room accents and is a perfect neutral.
Paint is very personal taste. What other tell you may not be in your best interest or look appropriate in your home with your decor and or lighting.Browse through magazines and or websites to get a feel for a color.Once you find something that you think will work get the paint chip and bring it in your home with the lighting. If at that point you think you are satisfied try a paint sample. To many times paint colors have not worked in my home that the walls had to be re-painted.
Janet had a lot of good ideas. I love the little paint samples too. It allows you to see what the color will actually look like on your walls at different times of the day and your lighting conditions. after painting a bedroom three times we finally got smart!
Thank You Everyone! Your comments helped a lot!
I would suggest selecting a neutral color based on the furniture and/or artwork you plan to have in the room. As you will find, beiges, greys, whites, all have undertones. I would suggest picking a neutral that has a compatible undertone with they other things in the room.
I agree with the advice from Janet Pizaro and Michelle (Myrtle Beach)!! Go to the dollar store and buy a few artist type canvases - it will cost about $3.00. Then buy a small sample of the paint you think you might like and paint the canvases. Hang them in different areas of the room(s) to see how the (cool) early morning light looks AND the afternoon (warmer) color looks. Re Michelle - like her, I prefer a light to medium taupe as it is both warm (brown toned) and cool (grey toned).
If you don't want the room to look dated in a year or two, I would strongly advise you to please NOT buy straight gray. In another year or two, everyone will be remembering grey being the "in color" in around 2015 to 2017!!! Do you remember the popular trendy burgundy and hunter green way back when; think it was the mid '90's? Or how about the two colors - one was called Seafoam and the other peach that were the rage - brought about by the popular TV show, Miami Vice starring Don Johnson. They date SO fast!!! Go with a sophisticated non-trendy taupe and you will never be dated. As tempting as trends can be - as you see everyone following them - avoid them and be different and unique!! You won't regret it! 🙂
