Love this house!
Red came to my mind too, but an alternative might be a deep forest green.
I would Paint the door and shutters in a dark olive
red or yellow
Dark burnt orange to match the fall leaves!
Beautiful cabin! Red came to my mind too, but an alternative might be a deep forest green.
Burnt red or orange against that green
We have a green house with dark brown trim and a saturated, deep ocean blue color front door. We get a lot of compliments.
Black gets hot if in direct sun but is also an unexpected but sophisticated option that would look good with cedar & green.
Or, look around and find a pop of color in the natural setting of your home and choose it; your door color will pull the scenery in.
Congrats on your new place!
Can't tell if color is in the green shade or gray? If gray ,red , yellow or black or white. If in green tint , no red. I would go with black, or white or a darker shade of the same green. Cute place.
Darling little cabin in the woods! I would take cues from nature and choose a gold, golden yellow, burnt orange, something that makes it stand out enough to let people know it is your front door, but subtle enough to blend in with the suroundings. If you want to be different, a lovely shade of a muted lavendar or lilac/gray would look pretty too.
No matter what you do, I am sure it will look amazing! Congratulations on your new abode!
i would paint it a redish orange. if its more grey than i would like red. it looks like a sage green in the pic so if im wrong and its grey then maybe a pop of color would be pretty like a pretty yellow or even a teal .
I would paint it a maroon color. Choose a rich bold maroon color. Paint sample swatches and let dry to truly see the finished color.
why Bright Golden Yellow of course!
I would try a forest green, it is bolder than the siding to stand out but still sedated.
I love your sage/fern green siding, and the cedar shutters and deck will continue it's rustic feel. Personally, I would go with a gunmetal blue-grey that is a rich, saturated color, yet would compliment the green and cedar color palette you have started. It's a statement color, yet looks like it belongs in nature.
If bold is your preference, burnt oranges and vintage barn reds are always winners.
Whatever you choose, make sure it reflects you. You'll have to post "after" pics with the final results!!
I also think yellow would look good. Congrats, it's a cute home.
Rich wine Red
red
Once you get your deck painted, the door color will come to you, but my thought is dark red for the door and shutters. White is clean and easy
golden yellow
Red
I think a maroon or merlo would be beautiful
Red door trim and a medium purple door
Bright colors, like a bright yellow, a bright blue, or hot bright red. Go to a hardware/paint store and use the color wheel to find complimentary (opposite on wheel) colors to your green. I would also paint the stack coming out either the green on the walls or your white trim, or maybe possibly, the bright door color. Make it look on purpose.
Cute cottage!
Cedar is generally in the orange family, so if it were mine, I would paint my front door a bright, electric blue and exchange the screen door for an invisible screen door so the blue door could be seen. Second, I'd find a good third complimentary color to use as a trim accent. Perhaps a mellow cream yellow which would complement the three main colors of the cabin body leaving the door to make the big "Welcome" statement. Also, the door trim needs to be made from much wider stock to compete with the window shutters and allow for working in the accent color. Just saying...
The cottage is a diamond in the rough, you must be so anxious to make it yours. How about a soft coral, it'snot as strong as red
By all means .....cedar....you are in the mountains! The stove pipe and TV dish should be the same color as the outside walls , they will blend in with the trees around you. Your door, cedar too. Do something around the door frame with cut-out wood animals, should be painted black and/or put a wood animal on each of your shutters. When you are at home in the mountains, hang a wildflower with greenery wreath on the outside door. Or scour thrift shops for rustic signs. Love the deck!
Go with your first instinc, red. But I would choose a brick red instead of a bright red. That would give you the color you thought of, but would not be too bold.
If you are doing the deck and shutters a cedar color then I would paint the door orange. I would use blue/green/ orange flower pots, cushion covers and etc. to pick up the cedar, green siding and orange door. (love the house)
I would love a dark green on the sweet home.
