Can I paint my kitchen, bottom cabinets white?

My kitchen bottom cabinets are not holding up. They are water damaged, chipped, and looking bad. Would white painted or renewed bottom cabinets with dark granite counter look good with my cherry/orangish paneled and pretty formal Upper ones. My backsplash is white subway tile. Only 7 years old!

You didn't say what color they are now. I would probably get a bunch of scratch paper and masking tape and just cover them with white to see how I like how it looks. Or do one coat of white paint or primer. White might make the damage show even more, though. Your personal taste is the deciding factor.

Maybe I could tape a white sheet up. I didn't think about the damage showing with the shiny white paint. It might show. Thanks for your ideas!

I’d do some paint samples of different colors. You might even try navy, gray or a shade of green, just a little darker than white to create a nice contrast with your upper cherry cabinets.

Thanks, my walls are a dark paper-money green, so maybe a much lighter shade of green might work. All the pictures show white uppers and dark bottom cabinets-- just the opposite of what I want to do.

Paint will not cover chipped, damaged areas on your cabinets. Get them repaired first for a smooth finish.

Thanks! The finish keeps coming off. Wonder if it will continue even when painted?
