most big box stores that sell plants sell gadgets you fill with water and stick into the soilwalk into the garden departmeant at Lowe's or hom depot and they can show you what you want
Hello Vbuttaflybyrd, I recommend using a water bottle. Put a few small holes in the base of the bottle. Fill with water and put it in the pot. It will provide a small amount of water for the plant. I have used this method but on a bigger scale. I used gallon milk jugs in my vegetable garden. It worked pretty good. Try it a couple times before your vacation to see if your holes are the right size. Good luck.
I use a plant nanny. It's as terra cotta cone you insert into the soil of the pot and a 2 litre jug with a cone lid with holes that fits into the terra cotta cone. When the jug is filled with water and inserted into the other cone, water is delivered slowly to the soil and can keep your plants watered for a week or so.
