I have a wooden screen door painted black to match the trim. The front door is barn red but it sort of disappears behind the screen door. Should they match?
Unless natural wood, most often they are painted the same color or a varied tone or hue of it. If not, you risk looking 'gyspy' or Sanford and Son. But it is just paint. For $20 and an afternoon of yoru time you can change it.
Mine isn't - just depends on whether or not you want to have it stand out or blend in. There is no right or wrong, just what pleases you. ☺
What is usual is less of a concern than what look you want. If the screen door is painted the same color as the door it should sort of recede, putting the focus more on the front door. If you have a particularly pretty screen door that you want to highlight, painting it a different color will draw attention to it and away from the front door.
Elaine, The color of front doors to storm doors are a matter of personal choice. Some prefer the even flow of color from one door to the next, but others (like myself) love the look of duel colors ... I am posting a weblink below with photos of both. Hope you have been helped by this. Have a great summer and enjoy the "new" look of your home :)

Thanks!
Usually they are, just for continuity but it is entirely personal preference.
