I don't know of anything that will silence an AC, unless it's turned off.
Do you have a picture of area? It would make it easier to help if we knew the layout of patio in relation to AC.
There are lots of options like planting vines ( Clematis, Carolina Jasmine, etc) on a trellis between patio and AC.
You could place a tall shelf on the patio on the side that has the AC.

Plant bushes around the outside of the AC. Make sure to have an entry area in case of need to access for repair. If the bushes are not enough, build a wall on the side between the AC and the patio. A more useful idea is to put a shed between the AC and the patio to act both as a sound block and storage.
Unless you can have the a/c unit relocated (generally expensive), you can add potted plants around the unit itself, but not so close as to impede air circulation. I have the same problem myself, I either just deal with it or turn the a/c off while I am out there.
Try a water fountain, the sound may help drown out the a/c noise.
