get a metal yard stick. Yes the make them. Get some clamps. What type of saw are you useing? Clamp the yard stick to the table to use as a guide. I usually use a jig saw for most of my projects.
Lowe's and Home Depot will cut your wood to order for you in a matter of minutes. There may be a small charge for multiple cuts.

Clamp a piece of wood or a metal strip to the wood to use as a guideline where you will be cutting. Then, follow the edge of the guide to insure a straight cut. Use a circular saw or jig saw....
