Diy shade/curtain/window covering for skylight
Anyone have an idea how to make a shade (that would open AND close) for a skylight. The summer sun comes through this window and heats up my kitchen. HELP
Although my situation is not the same, the solution may be. I have two windows which my bed is up against. There is a flat panel of white hung over the windows that goes pretty much to the floor. This is a cotton summer spread that I made a casing for that allows a plain metal curtain rod to go through and that supports the curtain.
Hi. I would run a curtain rod the whole width of the windows. If that isn't possible then use 2 curtain rods that would meet in the middle of the 4ft section of the wall, Then I would mount the curtain rod(s) above the windows and use (84inch curtains for example) to give the illusion of bigger windows. Hope this helps
You can also upholster the area between the windows to make it a headboard. You can get 1/8" plywood and cut it into large squares/rectangles and then apply to wall. http://www.allthingsthrifty.com/2010/03/tutorial-how-to-make-fabric-headboard.html

If I run a curtain rod the whole width would it be able to hold the weight of the curtains? I want to use two different color sheers (like linen and off white).
Longer curtain rods usually come with support brackets.
Thank you all for your amazing tips and ideas! I can't wait to get started!!!
