There are anti-slip additives available, but sand works too. Pour some paint into a paint tray, then toss in a small handful of clean white sand. Aim for a ratio of four parts paint for every one part sand. Stir well and often, like every time you load your brush/roller. Do one coat with the sand, wait for it to be completely dry and than add a second coat of just the paint (no sand.)
Hi Elaine. Here's one idea... You can mix some sand in with your paint to get a textured finish that will give you some traction.

We did our garage floor with a product called Surestep paint. It works beautifully.
Stir in some sand.
I agree with the sand, it would be the cheapest also.
