I use Nature's Miracle. It's got enzymes to rid the carpet of pee smell so puppy doesn't think that's a place to go. Follow the directions on the bottle.
Id steam clean the carpet.
I use Hydrogen Peroxide.
Regardless of what you do ,the carpet will show stain again because it will go through pad and be on subfloor which will need to be painted with kilz paint. There is no getting around it and until you either keep him off carpet and /or have him fully trained to go outside. That's why you see people with hardwood floors with dark stains. They can't sand them out,and restain floor the marks will always be there, at least you can have carpet lifted paint entire floor and have carpet put down professionally then have it cleaned and treated and deodorize. But don't due much I would try resolve but if he isn't trained he will just pick a new spot to go.
Vinegar and water. Or bleach on white carpet. I suggest covering your carpet with carpet runners or clear desk rug protectors. I have dogs too.
