what about those decorative circles or diff shapes that u find at lowes that go around light fixtures and celling fans to help hide cracks or holes in the sheetrock im sorry i dont know what their called
They're called Medallions for ceiling lights/fans. They can be plastic, metal and/or anything you can think of. Try Dollar General, Home Depot and Lowe's.
Patching the Hole With Drywall
Rectangular holes are easier to patch than irregular ones, so you must first shape the opening with a drywall saw. To provide something to which to attach the drywall, slip a piece of 1-by-3 lumber in the hole and drive drywall screws through the ceiling to hold it. After cutting the patch to the same dimensions as the hole and attaching it to the wood with drywall screws, tape and finish the patch with drywall tape and joint compound. After you texture the patch to match the rest of the ceiling and paint it, it should be invisible.
