Place each grate in a plastic bag along with a cup of ammonia, seal the bag and set on the patio for at least 24 hours. Or set in your oven with the door closed . You may have to repeat if all the grime does not come off at once. The other option would be to turn your oven on "clean" and put your burners inside to be cleaned as well.

  • Soak in kitchen sink with hot water, dish soap and vinegar.

Oven cleaner is a great product to get this job done. Place them in the kitchen sink and spray them well on both sides. Follow label directions to see how much time you wait before wiping clean. Make sure to wear rubber gloves.
