Yes you can paint the grout. Clean it well and rinse any detergent or cleaning product residue. Use acrylic paint from the craft store. Seal it with many coats of satin or semi gloss polyurethane. I only use Varathane but there are other brands that are not as costly. When I do something on a floor, I will go with at least 8 coats of Varathane. Don't use less than four coats of satin, you can probably get by with 3 coats of semi gloss, applied after 30 minutes between coats. Yes, it will last.
Visit your local home center or tile store. There are products available to easily change the color of your grout. I changed mine from black to light brown, then used a grout sealant to protect it. It is easy with the correct materials.
