Helen, I have this very same problem. I have been told by handymen to buy a whole new shower stall (but I love the glass pattern!). To pour concrete over the pan, make sure to cover the drain hole. And lastly, just unscrew or cut out the old pan, shore up/replace the flooring or packing underneath and put a new pan back in. Naturally, the last suggestion, I find logical. SO, I am doing more research on this project For now, I would suggest online how-to videos on replacing the shower pan and finding a handyman with good logic.
Hi, thanks for your response. Since the shower pan is undamaged but super ugly, I've decided to first get a bid for professional resurfacing it as that would be easiest and hopefully least expensive. Then I'll consider replacing it if the resurfacing is not a viable option.
Concrete can be tricky to work with. It requires thorough mixing and precise timing in application in order to set correctly.
Also there is always a risk that anything applied over an existing shower pan or any retrofit work done on the pan, will effect the level of it, and result in the shower no longer draining properly
