Using chalk paint light yellow to paint a black dresser

My grandchildren are moving with my son, the dresser is black from Ikea I am painting three drawers and leaving two and the top black, should I do anything else ,thanks

I would prime it first on the parts that you want to paint to make sure you get good coverage and adhesion. I use Kilz for furniture.
